It’s the ability to recognize, understand, and manage your own emotions while navigating the emotions of others with empathy and clarity. In high-stakes environments, EQ becomes the bridge between strategy and humanity.


As a woman who’s led in boardrooms, built ventures from scratch, and coached others through reinvention, I’ve learned that emotional intelligence is what sustains leadership when titles fade and pressure rises. It’s how you show up when no one’s watching—and how you respond when everyone is.


Deep Listening as a Power Move


Listening is often underestimated. But in truth, it’s one of the most powerful tools a leader can wield. Deep listening means hearing beyond words—tuning into tone, energy, and what’s left unsaid. It’s how you build trust, uncover truth, and create space for innovation.

I remember moments in my corporate career where listening—not reacting—shifted the entire trajectory of a project. And now, as I lead AKP Innovations, I use deep listening to guide clients, shape programs, and honor the stories behind every strategy.
